Clean Water Rule

The U.S. Environment Protection Agency and the U.S. Army are working to repeal the Clean Water Rule, implemented in 2015, which increased protection for rivers, coastal waters, streams, and wetlands, and limits an array of pollutants. The Rule defined the jurisdiction of the federal government under the Clean Water Act. According to the Scientific American, this change may "foul the U.S. drinking water supply."

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Waters of the United States page includes a history and implementation of these regulations.

President Trump's Executive Order is available on the White House website. The proposed rule change will be be published in the Federal Register, a daily publication of U.S. regulatory actions, available online and in paper at the OSU Library.
