Las Vegas Shooting

"Our unity cannot be shattered by evil. Our bonds cannot be broken by violence. It is love that defines us today- and always will, forever."- Statement by President Donald Trump

On October 1st, tragedy struck Las Vegas. That Sunday night, 64 year old Stephen Paddock shot into the crowd at a country music festival. He killed 58 people and left over 500 wounded, making this the "deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history." The FBI and Department of Homeland Security are working together in this investigation. Police found Paddock dead in his room, and his motive is still undetermined. The White House website includes these statements and releases, speeches and remarks, press briefings,  nominations and appointments, presidential actions, legislation, and disclosures. The Office of the Press Secretary released President Donald Trump's statement about the shooting. He declared that he will travel to Las Vegas on Wednesday to meet the families affected and the first responders that saved lives during the incident. The Department of Homeland Security also came out with a statement regarding the mass shooting.

The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is the research, development and evaluation agency of the U.S. Department of Justice. As gun violence continues, we must provide support and comfort to those in need. We unite in grief and extend our greatest condolences to those that are affected by this incident. Our prayers are with Las Vegas and the families of the fallen.
